I´m a Little Pink.
After a scary flight where I spent most of my time vomiting in the cabin toilet and crossing my legs praying to the Porcelain God my stomach wouldn´t explode and stink out the whole plane we finally landed in Mexico.
It was probably not a moment too soon. The passengers on board who were stuck with me and my stinky bowels were ready to form a mob and lynch me. Apparently, flying across several countries while trapped in a small tin can with poor ventilation and some twit suffering with the stomach flu is not most passengers idea of a good time.
I´ll file that away as useful knowledge for the flight back home. And invest in some Bepto-Bismol at the airport.
Having never spent this much time trapped with my husband, I was a tad worried we would fight and squabble and this trip would ultimately be the end of our marriage.
I´ve been pleasantly surprised to learn we still like each other after all these years of marriage.
Especially after one or two tequilas and a full body sunburn.
After watching Boo play soccer and volleyball yesterday while I sat on a chair and read a book played referree, I was struck by just how much I love this man I´ve saddled myself to for the long haul.
Everywhere we go, he attracts children. They adore him, whether they are locals or tourists. If they are under the age of 12 and under six feet tall, they find my husband and adore him as though he is some little known rockstar.
I had forgot this about him. Or perhaps I never knew this at all and this is something new to him, to us. But when I see the gentle smile on his face as he happily organises the throng of gathering children to play some game while other adults just walk by and are grateful it is him and not them, I´m reminded once again of just how lucky I really am.
He really does have the patience of a saint and a heart of gold.
All of this plus he hunts down toilet paper for me on an airplane.
Really. Could I get any luckier?

i am so glad you are having a grand time. and i wonder where you are in Mexico as I’ll be headed there next week and while it’s a big country, it’s not so big that we can’t potentially run into you.

Hunts down the toilet paper! Wow - you’ve got yourself a keeper.
I am happy to hear that you’ve not strangled each other and you’ll both being making it back home. Maybe the hubs and I should head of for a trip together.
Have a safe flight home.

November 21st, 2007 at 7:59 am
Not much luckier, that’s for sure!
I hope you’re having an fabulous time. Get terrific souvenirs and lose yourself in each other!
November 21st, 2007 at 8:02 am
Get some suncream woman;).
Glad you’re having fun……despite the rough start!!
November 21st, 2007 at 8:20 am
Nice huh?
Drink some drinks for me ok?
November 21st, 2007 at 8:21 am
You need some sunblock - have Boo rub it all over you a half hour before you go out. And then again, right before you go out, because you’ll be delayed.
You’re both lucky, I’d say. Enjoy your time together - it is precious.
November 21st, 2007 at 8:31 am
Have fun, woman. You are lucky, but then again, so is he, and don’t you forget.
November 21st, 2007 at 8:41 am
When you write these posts, I think to myself that we are all pretty lucky too. Your husband may attract kids, but don’t ever forget you attract women who read you to remember that even though life can be shitty or stressful, you can still love and laugh.
You are impressive, Redneck, impressive indeeed.
November 21st, 2007 at 8:57 am
You do have a keeper. Papa Bear attracts children too, especially this time of year…he sort of looks like Santa we think.
Hope the flight home is not full of bathroom runs, no pun intended.
Get some aloe for that burn and I suggest a rubdown!!!

Look at you, blogging from Mexico. I am impressed! I hope you and your rock star husband are living it up under the sun.
November 21st, 2007 at 9:18 am
Ooh, bad luck with the stomach flu. GREAT luck with the husband.
November 21st, 2007 at 9:59 am
Oy, do I hope you feel better.
I’ve got one of those guys too, and you’re right - we’re enjoying some serious good fortune.
November 21st, 2007 at 12:04 pm
Aw, lookit you getting all soft and gushy in the sun… What a wonderful thing. A vacation SHOULD be a time to reconnect, and it sounds like it’s just the ticket for you two.
(I love watching Misterpie with little kids, too. He really gets down on their level and has a ton of patient. He’s awesome.)
November 21st, 2007 at 12:14 pm
We have never spent time alone like that either - I can only hope that it would be as sweet as your experience (minus the sh*ts and the sunburn but with lots more tequila)
November 21st, 2007 at 1:53 pm
I’m glad you’re having a fabulous time (nasty stomach thing being the exception), but are you really blogging from your vacation? What, are you tired from all the monkey sex and needed a diversion?
November 21st, 2007 at 1:59 pm
there’s something about going away together that’s really, really good. gives you a chance to see your person in a whole new environment, all that great stuff. or great if it turns out you like what you see, which clearly you do.
enjoy Mexico, be kind to your sunburn and your poor bowels. aren’t you supposed to get intestinal distress on the way BACK, not the way there?!? keener.

It certainly does help to get to know someone when you go on vacation with them. That should totally be a requirement before marriage. A pre-marriage honeymoon. Many, many couples would never make it to the wedding. Glad you are having fun. We spent a long weekend in Puerto Vallarta last month and had a blast.
November 21st, 2007 at 5:22 pm
Isn’t that the flight where you paid for a first-class upgrade? What a waste!
November 21st, 2007 at 5:44 pm
hunts down toilet paper?? totally a keeper!
November 21st, 2007 at 6:37 pm
a keeper he is … Kids - thought you were at a adult resort?! Glad you posted!
November 21st, 2007 at 7:53 pm
Glad your enjoying your trip so far (minus the plane ride)! I vote that you either keep your husband or send him my way. Either one. Its up to you.
November 22nd, 2007 at 6:18 am
Hope you are enjoying your vacation and glad to see that you can still get along. You didnt really think you couldnt, did you?
November 22nd, 2007 at 8:07 am
This makes me think hubby and I need to make time for a little R&R before baby # 2 gets here and sucks up our togetherness time like the little vacuum cleaners of need that they are.
Thanks… and your commitment to your blog is admirable. I don’t even blog on weekends, let alone from another country.
November 22nd, 2007 at 8:23 am
That is so lovely, T. I am glad you guys are getting this time away, it is well deserved.
And I am SO sorry about the stomach virus on the plane. I have nightmares about stuff like that.
November 22nd, 2007 at 1:17 pm
Who the heck goes TO Mexico with Montezuma’s revenge? You’re supposed to bring it back, yo.
Props to the Mr. on his paper scavenging skills.
I hope you have so much fun that your face hurts from laughing.
November 23rd, 2007 at 5:29 am
Glad you’re having a good time, T.
Come home safely.

So the Vomit Comet flew long, hard and early. Sifted out the big chunks with a pitchfork, then settled into a big white telephone chat with Ralph and erci huh?
LOL
Ugh, I am joining the million of idiots to fly to Mickeys South home (Orlando) the week before Christmas. Its going to be a family reunion in two time share condos for me, my wife, my two sons, two of my three sisters and their hubbies. I bet we all come down with the drizzling chits at some point. Oh joy, I cant wait.
November 23rd, 2007 at 1:30 pm
Glad to hear you are having a good time, even if the flight down was not so much.
Buy some sunblock woman.
November 23rd, 2007 at 5:37 pm
I, too, am close friends with the cabin toilet. We be homies.
Hope you continue having fun in tequilla land!
November 24th, 2007 at 12:56 pm
Uh-oh. You were hugging the toilet BEFORE you even got to Mexico!? That is a bad sign.
Sweet post. I’m gald you guys have some time to just be in love again.
November 26th, 2007 at 5:45 am
I miss you.
Glad you’re enjoying Boo. And I agree with Fishy Girl. Have Boo rub some sun screen on you before you go out….several times.
I sure hope SOMEONE is having monkey sex. LOL.
Enjoy.
